Sewing together my Curves QAL Blocks.


2021 QAL @ Patchwork Inspirations

I continued the clean-up of my sewing and quilting spaces today

 and it has been a workout.

Now, I have everything in order for some sewing and quilting. 

Tonight I needed some pretty fabrics flowing through my fingers. 

Loving the colors and fabrics for this one ... <3

Winter still has us in its frigid and frosty grip.

I hope all of you are safe and warm and snug under the quilts tonight.

These blocks are for the 


2021 QAL @ Patchwork Inspirations

We could pick a pattern or design our own for this quiltalong

as long as it featured curves.

The quilts in the QAL Facebook Group

are amazing in their variety and complexity. 


I designed my own block by improv and then drew up a pattern. 



Now that my blocks are done, the next part of the challenge is to decide on my layout and sew my quilt top together.

Curves QAL ~ January Goal ~ 8 Blocks from Life in the Scrapatch

 

My blocks are done for the January Goal for the 


2021 QAL @ Patchwork Inspirations


These are Fan Blade Blocks of my own design.


I used my 8" Dresden Ruler to cut the fan blades.

I started with this small fat quarter bundle that I received last year as a

Valentine Gift in an order from the Fat Quarter Shop

and added other scrap fabrics from my stash.

It has been icy cold and windy here in my quilty corner

and we have had some issues with our smart thermostat's online app.

Mr. Scrapatch had to install an old fashioned ...

Sewing Curves from Life in the Scrapatch



Today I was using old school methods,

 cutting by hand from homemade cardboard templates.


I drew up this set of templates ...


... after to made the first two blocks for my 


I am making scrappy fan blade blocks with my 8" Dresden Ruler.

The white background is also scrappy as I am using white tone-on-tone fabrics

left from other projects.

The circles in the first photo are cut into quarters for the inner curve.

I am very comfortable sewing curves.

I finger fold to find the center and insert my first pin.
